I have decided to start my project by looking at the components of our identity and what we consider makes up who we are. Therefore, I have started a small and simple picture book which has a drawing or image for each component. Some of the things I have included are nationality, family, memories, outlook of life and personality traits.
I am also researching into the questions you might ask someone in order to find out who they are, for example: Where did you grow up? Where do you want to be in 5 years? I have created a questionnaire which I have got people to fill out and from this I will try and pick out things about their identities. Then I will be able to see if people match the questionnaire answers to a photograph of each person to see whether there is a correlation between how we look and who we are.

I am beginning to look at similarities and differences in identity and how we decipher one person from another. I am interested in the resemblances in family faces so have been experimenting with photographs of mothers and their children to show their similarities.

I was looking through a magazine and found a page asking 'what's in your bag?'. In each magazine they had this page with a different celebrity and they would look at the contents of this person's bag, mainly focusing on beauty products etc. This gave me the idea of how you could create an image of a person in your head after seeing the contents of their bag, in a similar way that people say you can judge someone by their shoes. Therefore, I asked 5 people I know to empty their bags and I photographed the items next to their bag.

After looking at Steve Rosenfield's 'What I Be Project' which shows photographs exposing people's insecurities, I thought I would take inspiration from this and do something similar but based on stereotyping.
